Chancellor search UPDATE

The search for a new chancellor for the University of Pittsburgh is now under way. This is an important and critical undertaking for our University and I am sure that there will be considerable ongoing interest in this endeavor. It is my intention, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, to keep all of you — faculty, staff and students — fully informed during the conduct of this search. The Chancellor Search Update will serve as one of the primary communications vehicles during the search. It will be printed in the University Times as needed to keep you up to date on the developments and progress of the search.

The next chancellor will be expected to lead the University into the 21st century, and the task of identifying candidates for the position for Board consideration is an immense responsibility. I am confident that the members of the search committee will meet this challenge and move the search process forward as expeditiously as possible. You will also be given the opportunity to make your thoughts on the selection of a new chancellor known to the Board of Trustees through a series of University-wide public hearings, the dates of which will be determined in the next few months.

This is an important process for the University of Pittsburgh and the Board of Trustees is committed to keeping you informed as the search progresses.

J.W. Connolly Chair, Board of Trustees
