After four years away, Staff Council brings Pitt back to Kennywood

BY MARTY LEVINE

Coming off a successful return to Pitt Day at Kennywood on June 17, Staff Council met June 21 to announce officers for the coming year.

The only current Staff Council officer who ran for re-election, President Lindsay Rodzwicz (administrator of Bioengineering’s Coulter Program in the Swanson School of Engineering), regained the presidency for another two-year term beginning July 1.

Current parliamentarian Christine Jackson (associate dean of business and finance, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences) will be the new executive vice president, while Scott Szypulski (research administrator, Human Genetics, Public Health) will take over as vice president of public relations.

Vice president for finance for the next two years will be Monika Losagio (administrative officer, French and Italian, Dietrich School of Art & Sciences), and the new parliamentarian is Caitlin McCullough (web content manager, Office of the Dean, School of Public Health).

Szypulski and Kristen Felser from the School of Dental Medicine served as co-chairs of the Kennywood committee. Staff Council sponsored the event annually for 28 years through June 2019 when the pandemic forced a pause. Felser said they had no exact attendance figures, but they ordered food for 1,500. Activities at the pavilion included raffle baskets, bingo, t-shirt sales, face painting, lawn games, and photo ops with Kenny the Kangaroo, Parker and Roc.

Also announced at the latest Staff Council meeting on June 21 was the group’s next Spotlight presentation, set for July 11, with Maureen Beal, associate vice chancellor for financial operations, with a time and other details to come.
