Do you have a well-loved book, maybe one you’re afraid to read again because the cover is falling apart? One that’s special to you that you’d like to switch up from soft to hard cover? Give it a second life in the workshop “On the Rebound: Book Makeovers.”
The event will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. June 9 in the Text & conText Lab on the third floor of Hillman Library. It will be facilitated by Amanda Hudgins from the Center for Creativity.
Transform a worn or paperback favorite into a beautifully rebound hardcover edition with simple bookbinding materials and techniques. Bring a treasured novel from home or choose something from our collection, and leave with a one-of-a-kind custom binding you made yourself.
Along the way, explore the creative possibilities of repair, reuse, and reinvention while learning foundational bookbinding skills that connect to other making processes like paper marbling, printmaking, and cover design.
No prior experience required. Just bring your creativity, and maybe your favorite dog-eared book.
