Changemaker Garcia will discuss Hispanic-serving institutions

Gina Ann Garcia, author of “Transforming Hispanic-Serving institutions for Equity & Justice” and associate professor in the School of Education, will be the speaker for a Changemakers in Conversation program on May 1 in Posvar Hall’s Global Hub.

The program kicks off with a reception catered by the Colombian Spot. Afterward, Garcia will be in conversation with Eboni Zamani-Gallaher, professor and associate dean for equity, justice, and strategic partnerships in the School of Education; Michele Reid-Vazquez, director of the Center for Ethnic Studies Research; and Sheila Velez-Martinez, co-director, Center for Civil Rights and Racial Justice. They will discuss Garcia's pivotal work and its guidance for institutions serving Hispanix/Latinx students and communities.

The event, which is free and open to all, is from 4 to 6 p.m. May 1. Register for program. The first 50 registrants will receive a complimentary copy of Garcia's book.
