Join hands-on tree survey to help increase Oakland’s canopy

Join Pitt’s Office of Sustainability and Tree Pittsburgh for a hands-on tree survey and training from 9 a.m. to noon March 28.

The event is designed for Pitt students, employees and Oakland residents. Participants will meet at 630 William Pitt Union.

Participants will learn:

  • How to evaluate sidewalks for tree planting potential

  • Key considerations like power and gas lines, ADA accessibility, and sidewalk stability

  • Hands-on experience surveying Oakland neighborhoods and mapping potential tree sites

  • How collected data will support future tree planting efforts through the Oakland Planning and Development Corporation

A large portion of this workshop takes place outdoors and involves walking — please dress for the weather.
