The annual Christmas Day at Pitt meal and gift distribution doesn’t happen without a lot of contributions of gifts and times by members of the University community.

Last year, around 250 volunteers participated in preparing meals in advance to send out into the community and in serving meals on Christmas Day at the Eatery at Towers.

There are several ways to participate:

Gift drive: Every child who comes to Christmas Day at Pitt receives a gift from those donated by the Pitt community. Gifts can be wrapped or unwrapped and should be dropped off to 1723 Cathedral of Learning by Dec. 9. For more information or if you have any questions, email Justin Dandoy at justin.dandoy@pitt.edu.

Meal Packaging: On Dec. 19 and 20, volunteers can work alongside Pitt's Office of Engagement and Community Affairs and Pitt Eats staff to help package meals that will then be distributed into the Pittsburgh community for Christmas Day. Last year, around 1,600-1,900 Christmas meals were packaged. Sign up to volunteer to package meals.

Volunteer on Christmas Day: On Dec. 25, help make the holiday a joyous one for everyone by volunteering for Christmas Day at Pitt. Volunteer opportunities are available from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include meal prep, meal serving, cleaning, gift distribution, and general support. Sign up to volunteer on Christmas Day.
