Sheth Awards will honor Murtazashvili and novelist Medie

Jennifer Brick Murtazashvili, founding director of Pitt’s Center for Governance and Markets, and Peace A. Medie, a 2012 alumna of the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs, will be honored with the 2023 Sheth Awards at a ceremony on April 9.

Jennifer MurtazashviliMurtazashvili, a GSPIA professor, will receive the Sheth Distinguished Faculty Award for International Achievement. The award honors lifetime contributions by a current Pitt faculty member to further international education

Medie, is a scholar and novelist whose book “His Only Wife” was New York Times Notable Book and a Time Magazine Must-Read Book of 2020. She will receive the Sheth International Young Alumni Achievement Award, which goes to a young alumnus of Pitt who entered on a student visa, earned a degree in the last 15 years, and has made contributions to the international community through professional achievement.

The two Sheth awards were started by  Jagdish N. Sheth, an expert in the field of marketing known globally for his scholarly contributions in consumer behavior, relationship marketing, competitive strategy and geopolitical analysis. 

The 11th Sheth International Achievement Awards ceremony will be from 3 to 5 p.m. April 9 in the William Pitt Union, Lower Lounge. Register here.

Nominations for the 2024 Sheth Awards, which will be awarded this fall, are now being accepted. The deadline to nominate someone for the Young Alumni or Faculty Award is May 1, 2024.
