The School of Education’s Kinloch Commons for Critical Pedagogy and Leadership and Center for Urban Education will present a series of three virtual workshops this fall on “Palestine & Pedagogy.”

 4-5:30 p.m. Sept. 24: “solidarity & teaching” with Hana Dinku. Drawing on June Jordan’s experience of isolation and attack from within feminist circles for her pro-Palestinian stance and work, the seminar will consider how to build meaningful pedagogical solidarities in similar contemporary contexts.

 4-5:30 p.m. Oct. 23: “encampments & classrooms” with Ujju Aggarwal & Sabina Vaught. Basel Al-Araj’s “Live Like a Porcupine, Fight Like a Flea” will guide a workshop on what we might learn from the long history of the encampment and its liberatory struggle through practices of self-determined study. The seminar will consider how to apply these traditions to classrooms.

Date TBD: “sophicide, scholasticide & how we teach” with Amanda Soto & Sabina Vaught. Focusing on the Palestinian feminist collective’s work, the seminar will explore a set of relational sensibilities by asking: What does it mean to teach from the seat of empire?
