Flu shot clinics planned at William Pitt Union and the Pete

Flu vaccinations clinics will be held faculty, staff and students on the Oakland campus over the next month.

Walk-ins are welcome or you can sign up for an appointment.

The large flu clinics will be held:

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 13, at the Panther Wellness Fair at William Pitt Union

  • 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 15, William Pitt Union

  • 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Oct. 3, Petersen Events Center

  • 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Oct. 4, Petersen Events Center

Students also will be doing blood pressure screenings at each of the mass vaccination days.

Pitt’s School of Pharmacy, in partnership with the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, is one of five universities that will each receive a $20,000 grant to teach the correct way to check blood pressure, the American Medical Association announced in August.

The Pitt program, called Pitt Bridging Education and Team-Based Care (BEAT) for Blood Pressure Measurement, will conduct blood pressure screening events at the William Pitt Union and Petersen Events Center vaccine clinics, said Melissa S. McGivney, associate dean for community partnerships and professor of pharmacy and therapeutics, who led the application for the grant.

Flu shots and all adult vaccinations, including all travel vaccinations, also are available at the Vaccination & Health Connection Hub on the Forbes Avenue side of Nordenberg Hall.
